Boggle
During the hot afternoon rest times this weekend, I introduced Natalie to Boggle. She's 8, which is the age where a whole new realm of board games kicks in. She LOVED Boggle. I would consider it to be an essential homeschooling game, along with Mancala, Chess, Backgammon, and Scrabble. She developed a version where she played alone without the timer and simply tried to see how many words she could find in the letters. Then she made a list of words she wanted to make and tried to find a way to arrange the board so that those words were possible. It's good spelling practice in a non-practice kind of way. The fact that it's a three minute game also makes it good for slipping into your day in a casual fashion.
