This fabulous book would work well as a read-aloud story with a hands-on math lesson at the end of each chapter. I recommend it for grades 3 and up. I especially love that it is translated from another language and takes place in a location that is rarely covered in my read-aloud stories.

Awesome Math Book
I have been super busy and haven't posted lately, but I wanted to quickly write to recommend a new math book (new to me). It's called The Man Who Counted: A Collection of Mathematical Adventures
