Labeling Garden Plants

I was at the Irvine Nature Center for a Nature Explore Workshop this weekend when I saw a simple, pretty way to identify flowers and shrubs in a garden bed. They simply took a large smooth rock and wrote on it with a sharpie! I'm sure you have to redo the writing after a while but it was subtle and so simple. They wrote in italics the Latin name above and in smaller block capital letters the common name below. I thought, how did I not think of this before???
