This base is not that great for talking about the three suffixing changes (toggle < y > to < i >, replaceable < e >, doubling the final consonant) but it is wonderful for talking about compound words AND for discussing the difference between an adjective and a noun.

Here are the words we came up with; I'd love to know if you find more!
town + house
row + house
light + house
fire + house
sod + house
out + house
toll + house
tree + house
If you'd like a story to introduce this activity, I recommend Dandelions by Eve Bunting. It has a very vivid description of a sodhouse (aka soddie).
If you're interested in how SWI can be used in a Waldorf environment, my colleague Virginia Berg and I wrote an article about this. It can be found in the current issue of the Research Bulletin, published by the Research Institute for Waldorf Education.
I've also created a Ruzuku course especially for this topic. The course has lifetime access and covers how to work with SWI before and after the 9- year change. The Ruzuku courses are fabulous because they are limited to families who are planning for -- or teaching -- this exact same block, so you can share your creative ideas, get feedback as you plan, and celebrate your favorite teaching moments with a cohort of people who are doing this topic right alongside you!
