Ten Days

We have two weeks, ten days, left before Christmas vacation. Since our class play is The Nutcracker I wanted to choose a nonfiction read aloud story by contrast. I am reading them Graysonby Lynne Cox. It's a memoir of an encounter between a swimmer -- Lynne was a girl of 17 at the time -- and a baby gray whale. A lovely and moving story on its own, it is exactly 10 chapters long so it fits my requirements well AND provides a lot of information about sea life that will pique the interest of my students to further explore this Ocean World of ours...

Come January we will follow up and participate in Creep Into the Deep. Perfect!
