Everyone, of course, is going to have a different answer to this question!!!
It is a question I get asked all the time as my oldest girls are teenagers (13, 14, 15) and I have a two year old boy, which means that I'm setting up the play space all over again, with the added benefit of experience. I know which toys have longevity and I know which brands were, in fact, worth the money.
If you have a young child, check out the Online Curriculum Project: Early Childhood page on my site which is full of online links to helpful information.
If you are building up your library, here is my Preschool booklist with 12 essential books.
