78 Books Written in ALL CAPS

Why would anyone create a list of books written in ALL CAPS? If you're teaching a Waldorf first grader, you need books written all in caps! Montessori starts children out with lowercase cursive letters (to prevent reversals) and Waldorf starts children out with uppercase block letters (for the same reason). So, what do you do when your child knows all 26 and wants to read something? Give him/her one of these books!

~ UPDATE ~
Because so many people have found this post helpful,
I've also put together a list of Games & Actitivies in ALL CAPS.

If you're getting ready to teach this block, join my Capital Letters course... or check out the full First Grade Immersive Experience!

I am eager to expand this list, so let me know what else you find!

Ben Clanton's website even includes a "Behind the Books" page written in ALL CAPS describing the writing process and his journey of creating the Narwhal & Jelly books and having them published. It's really interesting!

I'm not including them in this list, but of course there are also lots of comic book options. I am particularly fond of Peanuts and Calvin & Hobbes.

Special Note

These four beautiful books by Maryjo Koch have occasional cursive captions for illustrations, or fancy starting initials at the beginning of a paragraph, but the text is all in capital letters. And there's a lot of text too, so there are plenty of words for children to practice, illustrated with watercolor paintings.

I think these would be ideal for a transition at the end of the summer, just heading into Second Grade. We are starting our Second Grade year with the lowercase letters and -- specifically -- an introduction to fountain pens and Chancery Script. Seeing some of of her fancy and beautiful letters sprinkled throughout the text will be sure to pique interest!

Of course, they're also wonderful for Second Grade Nature Study.

If you're interested in Chancery Script, I have a Ruzuku course for it!
