Photos from Our Fire Department Field Trip

Thank you so much to the Carbondale Fire Station #2 for the warm welcome they extended to us last Monday and for our wonderful tour!

The children were amazed that we got to see them respond to a real emergency call at the very end of our trip, and how swiftly the fire fighters got dressed and the equipment left the station. It really was under a minute!

we watch a short film on fire safety

and take a tour of the firefighters' living quarters

then we head in to the engine bay to see the engines

we watch a firefighter put on all of his gear

and we learn what each piece of equipment is for

we listen to him talk through his bluetooth

(so his voice is less distorted and muffled)

see?  not scary

and then everyone gets to high-five the firefighter!

then we get to see the fire engines up close

and learn about all of the equipment on them

everyone gets to sit up in the fire engine!

everyone gets a fire hat and a sticker

and we pose for a group photo

then we get a picture with the firefighters

and then the call comes in and they have to go

we hurry to find a place to stand that is out of the way!

and away they go!
