My Weird School Fast Facts by Dan Gutman

A series worth investing in if your child prefers nonfiction to fiction, which is true of many boys. Useful for the younger elementary crowd who are gobbling up everything they can find. Also great for reluctant readers. Very engaging and fun! As of today there are eight and they are $5.99 apiece.

The tone is a little bit not my favorite but the books are filled with great information. Charlotte Mason calls books with all fluff and no redeeming qualities "twaddle" and she's right. However, I think having kids reading books they like is important. Seeing what some of my students have been sharing in the Book Share helps me know what I should be adding to my bookshelves... while of course still keeping the classic books I loved from when I was younger and the newest Newbery and Caldecott winners.
