The Kindness Curriculum Theme 6

I am so excited to be using the Kindness Curriculum from the Center for Healthy Minds. You can download this free mindfulness curriculum easily. Each week consists of three short lessons, about 20 minutes each.

Zac and I are doing this together as a family; we are on Week Six, which has "GRATITUDE" as its theme.

Lesson 16: Gratitude for people or things in my life

Invite bell. GFW. Read You and Me by Martine Kindermans. List everything we are grateful for. Draw a picture of what we are each grateful for the most. Listen to "Thanks Be," track 8 from Calm Down Boogie by Betsy Rose.

Lesson 17: Gratitude for my body

Invite bell. GFW. Read All of Me! A Book of Thanks by Molly Bang. Mindful eating exercise, beginning with a food they don't know. It's pretty difficult to find a food that Zac has never tasted before! I settled for Sweet Matzo Brei. He also tasted walnuts, dried pitted dates, bison jerky, and fresh spinach.

Lesson 18: Gratitude for other people

Invite bell. GFW. Add stickers to Kindness Garden poster which we put up on the wall in Zac's Kindness Place (the downstairs coat closet, which is now empty of coats and all tricked out with Mind Jars and Peace Wands and colorful wooden pebbles for stacking and a basket of clean wool for carding).
