Trek Through Time Graphics - USGS

I'm working on a Ruzuku course for the Timeline of Life and just found these beautiful graphics by the U.S. Geological Society, and they put them all in the public domain! If you want to see what life on Earth has looked like over the course of the past 541 million years, these are for you!

In addition to the graphics, they have great information which has been crystallized into bullet points for kids.

The Paleozoic Era

The Mesozoic Era

The Cenozoic Era

If you live in the Chesapeake Bay area, this information will be particularly helpful to you, because besides talking about what happened in the time period overall, they narrow it down to what Virginia looked like as time went on (the red dot on the maps). I also want to recommend Peter Vogt's fantastic book The Monster Shark's Tooth: Canoeing from the Chesapeake Bay into the Ancient Miocene Sea to help bring the Miocene Epoch to life!

And now for our walk through the timeline! Click on any image to enlarge it or to be able to scroll through them.
