Her work has given me a lot of confidence, from Legendary Ladies of Art History week this spring to our busy summer of Magnificent Modern Art.
I'm going with all modern artists, and here are the people I have chosen.
They are arranged in order by year of birth:
*NOTE*
I am moving Faith Ringgold to next school year because there's an amazing Dale Chihuly exhibit coming to the Missouri Botanical Garden this spring and I'd love for us to do a field trip!!!
I took Claes Oldenburg out of 2022-2023, because I didn't want the end of the school year to feel too rushed. So he will have to slot into a future spot. Sorry, Claes!

Lotus is also doing Women of Abstract Expressionism in The Studio this month. She did that topic once before, so I don't know if Helen Frankenthaler will be included this time or not.

Excited!!!
UPDATE:
I decided to join Lotus's full website (The Studio) and get access to past lesson plans. I think it will really help me this year to have so much already done for me. So if any of these artists are included in The Studio, I'm going to add a note for myself as to where they are in the Archives.
includes Helen Frankenthaler
By the way, here is her 2023 lineup of artists. I'm excited about Zaha Hadid (June) and Louise
Bourgeois (October).

In reading this list, Jackson Pollock stands out as dying very young compared to the others. I looked it up and he was killed in a car accident. He was drunk driving, speeding, and not wearing a seatbelt... and he hit a tree and was thrown from the vehicle.
