Bird ID

Just a few of my favorite resources for bird identification while we're at it. It is also one of my goals to learn how to ID birds by song. For that, I love the Merlin Bird ID app. The sound ID feature is just so cool!

If you want to go more old school, we also listen to bird song CDs in the car.

Stokes Field Guide to Bird Songs: Eastern Region (3 CD set)

For learning birds by sight, my homeschool co-op has participated in the Great Backyard Bird Count and Project Feederwatch, and we really like the National Geographic Backyard Guide to the Birds of North America.

If you are planning on a unit study on birds in your homeschool, this is my favorite bird log for kids. I would also highly recommend Everything You Never Learned About Birds by Rebecca Rupp. It is fantastic!
