A Lovely Idea: W is for Winter

A favorite idea if you are teaching the Capital Letters block. W is for Winter!

There are lots of Winter stories you could choose for this one (I like Winter, Awake! by Linda Kroll because it has a ton of alliteration for the /w/ sound).

Winter, AWake!

Then simply set out a cookie sheet while it is snowing.

Bring in the sheet of freshly fallen snow and have your child trace a wild windy wintery W on it with his/her finger. Look how beautiful this is!!!!!

Check out my Capital Letters page on the website for a ton of free resources! If you love detailed notes and want personal support with this block, join the Capital Letters course (also included in the complete First Grade Experience).
