I also connected with Daniel Murphy, Language Arts & Visual Arts Teacher at Lindbergh Alternative High School in St. Louis, who presented at the 2022 national convention of the National Alternative Education Association (NAEA).

His topic was the science of trauma and how Rubik's cubes and chess can help traumatized students to self regulate! He even gave us some valuable help with how to solve a 2x2 cube based on his own personal experience.

This is not specifically addressed in Waldorf, but it has turned out to be a very nice grade 5 topic! I would put it in Fractions & Freehand Geometry.

In the past we also learned about Erno Rubik in grade 2 Famous Inventors... and the Rubik's cube is useful for Place Value as well!
